Mara McDermott serves as the Vice President of Federal Affairs for CAPG, heading up the association's federal legislative and regulatory activities in Washington, DC. Mara works on behalf of CAPG member organizations to advance policies that promote coordinated care. This role includes advocacy and education efforts with members of Congress and their staffs, the Administration, and other health policy stakeholders.
Dr. Rodney Hood is a practicing clinician of internal medicine and a national speaker who addresses current healthcare issues in the U.S., especially those affecting diverse and vulnerable populations. He has spoken to audiences of healthcare providers, health administrators, medical students, and federal and state governmental officials, including testifying before U.S. congressional committees and participating in congressional and White House health forums. Dr. Hood’s areas of expertise include health equity, disparities, medical history with historic aspects of race and genetics, health policy, cultural competency in healthcare, managed care, and health administration.
As SVP and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers, Stacey Hrountas leads a staff of over 2,500 employees dedicated to the business systems for more than 500 primary care and specialty physicians. Her team serves more than 400,000 patients in 22 medical office sites throughout San Diego County.
Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers is affiliated with Sharp HealthCare, a leading integrated delivery system and a 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient, the Nation’s highest Presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence. Stacey has over 30 years experience in the health care industry. She joined Sharp in 1994 and has held several system-wide leadership positions including Vice President, Managed Care Contracting and Finance for the entire Sharp HealthCare system and affiliated medical groups.
Stacey has served on the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) Board of Directors since 2013, is a member of the CAPG Public Policy Committee and serves as CAPG San Diego Regional Chair. She has served as Treasurer of the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) Board of Directors since January 2015 and serves on their Technical Payment Committee. Stacey is a member the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) National Healthcare Leadership Council and is a member of the Aetna Public Policy Committee.
Stacey holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from UCLA, and a Master in Public Health, in Health Services Administration from San Diego State University, Graduate School of Public Health, San Diego, CA.
Richard Manning has three decades of experience as a leader of healthcare operations. For the past eight years, as part of WellMed's Executive Leadership Team, he has overseen clinic operations spanning more than 220 locations and 2,800 employees.
In addition, Mr. Manning directs all strategic initiatives on mergers and acquisitions, governmental affairs, and the non-profit WellMed Charitable Foundation, which he co-founded with WellMed's CEO, Dr. George Rapier.
Previously, Mr. Manning served for 14 years as a senior executive for Concentra Health Services, Inc., a division of Concentra, Inc., the nation's largest provider of cost containment services focused on workers compensation and disability management.
Dr. Robert McBeath is President of OptumCare Mountain West Region. In this role, he oversees all of OptumCare's Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado clinical operations, including Nevada's largest multispecialty medical group practice, Southwest Medical, and several affiliated companies.
Previously, Dr. McBeath founded Urology Specialists of Nevada in 1996, guiding its growth into a practice of 13 physicians and advanced practice clinicians and creating an integrated, leading-edge urologic cancer treatment center and several aligned healthcare businesses.
Dr. McBeath has also served as Chief of Urology for Mountain View and Summerlin Hospitals and Chief of Surgery for Summerlin Hospital. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Gynecology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine.
Dr. Scott Clemens is a Medical Director with New West Physicians, a multi-specialty group practice with 100 providers in 18 offices throughout the Denver metro area in Colorado. New West Physicians has an extensive background in population health management, quality improvement, and quality incentive based reimbursement. New West was the recipient of the AMGA's national Acclaim Award recognizing high performance medical groups. Dr. Clemens has clinical experience as a hospitalist and currently manages a thriving office-based primary care practice.
Dr. Olaoluwa Fayanju is a board-certified physician and Clinic Medical Director at Oak Street Health, where he sets standards of care and delivers outcomes for patients within a value-based delivery model. His work includes collaborating with the population health and medical economics teams to accurately capture his patients' conditions, take care of them, and further develop the model.
Dr. Fayanju is an advocate in the community on issues of public health regarding affordable care and social determinants of health. Prior to Oak Street Health, he served his residency in family medicine at Cook County Loyola Medicine.
